  73. The Dual Speed Switch allows the DTC3280 to support dual speed floppy disk
  74. drives.  This switch must be closed when connecting dual speed floppy disk
  75. drives to the DTC3280.  The default setting for this switch is open.

  103. The Interrupt "A" switches define the DTC31/3280 interrupt level.  The
  104. Host Adaptor can be configured to use interrupt level 10,11,12, or 13.
  105. The table below defines the switch settings and the corresponding
  106. interrupt level.
  107. Note:  The DTC31/3280 does not use interrupts in a DOS enviroment.

  137. DETERMINE YOUR SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
  138. The DTC31/3280 software contains drivers and utilities that, in conjunction
  139. with the DTC31/3280 hardware, allow you to install and operate multiple
  140. SCSI devices.  This section should be referred to in order to determine
  141. the software requirements for your particular configuration.  The files
  142. contained in the DTC31/3280 software diskette are as follows:
  143.  
  144.   GSCSI4.SYS           DTC31/3280 DOS Driver
  145.   GSCSI4.EXE           DTC31/3280 Removable Cartridge Driver
  146.   GFDISK.EXE           Format and partition utility
  147.   GSDIAG.EXE           Low-level format utility
  148.   AUTOEXEC.BAT         Auto-executable file
  149.   CONFIG.SYS           System configuration file
  150.  
  151. GSCSI4.SYS is a DOS device driver that is required if your system has more
  152. than two SCSI devices or if your system has any ST506 (MFM,RLL) or ESDI
  153. hard disk drives.
  154.  
  155. GSCSI4.EXE is a DOS device driver that supports SCSI removable cartridge
  156. drivers.  If you are connecting a removable cartridge SCSI device to the
  157. DTC31/3280, you need to install GSCSI4.EXE.
  158.  
  159. INSTALL THE DTC31/3280
  160. The following steps are required to install the DTC31/3280 in your computer:
  161.  
  162.  * Set the ID of each SCSI device on your system.  Each SCSI device, including
  163.    the DTC31/3280, must have a unique ID from zero to seven.
  164.  
  165.  * Install internal SCSI devices into the computer.
  166.  
  167.  * NOTE:  The first and the last devices connected to the SCSI bus must have
  168.    terminating resistors.  If the DTC31/3280 is not physically the first or
  169.    last device on the cable, remove the TP1 and TP2 resistor packs.  The
  170.    DTC31/3280 comes from the factory to be either the first or the last device.
  171.  
  172.  * If you are using internal SCSI devices, connect one end of the 50 pin header
  173.    on the DTC31/3280.
  174.  
  175.  * Remove one of the metal brackets from any empty expansion slot in the rear
  176.    of the computer chassis and insert the DTC31/3280.
  177.  
  178.  * Connect the internal SCSI devices to the 50 pin ribbon cable.  Be sure
  179.    that pin 1 of the 50 pin header is connected to pin 1 of the SCSI devices.
  180.  
  181.  * Reassemble the computer.  Refer to your computer manual for the proper
  182.    procedure.
  183.  
  184.  * Connect any external SCSI devices to the external connector on the
  185.    DTC31/3280 using the 50-pin shielded cable.
  186.  
  187. DETERMINE YOUR SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
  188. The DTC31/3280 software contains drivers and utilities that, in conjunction
  189. with the DTC31/3280 hardware, allow you to install and operate multiple

  201. GSCSI4.SYS is a DOS device driver that is required if your system has more

  210. Follow the procedure below to install the DTC31/3280 software on your hard
  211. disk drive. where Drive C: represents a hard disk drive and drive A:
  212. represents a floppy disk drive.
  213.  
  214. * Insert the DTC31/3280 software diskette in drive A:.  At the DOS prompt,
  215.   enter the following command to change to the root directory:
  216.  
  217.                            CD C:\
  218.  
  219. * At the new DOS prompt, enter the following command to copy the files
  220.   to the hard disk:
  221.  
  222.                            Copy A:G*.* C:
  223.  
  224. * If your system configuration does not require the DTC31/3280 DOS drivers,
  225.   GSCSI4.EXE and GSCSI4.SYS your software installation is now complete.
  226.  
  227. * If your system configuration requires GSCSI4.SYS, add the following
  228.   statement to your CONFIG.SYS file:
  229.  
  230.                            DEVICE=C:GSCSI4.SYS
  231.  
  232.  If your system configuration requires GSCSI4.SYS, add the following
  233.  statement to your CONFIG.SYS file:
  234.  
  235.                            COPY A:CONFIG.SYS C:
  236.  
  237. * If your system configuration requires GSCSI4.EXE, add the following
  238.   statement to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
  239.  
  240.                            GSCSI4
  241.  
  242.  If your system does not have an AUTOEXEC.BAT file, copy this file from
  243.  the DTC31/3280 software diskette to your hard disk by entering the
  244.  following command:
  245.  
  246.                            COPY A:AUTOEXEC.BAT C:
  247.  
  248. * Your software installation is now complete.  Please note, you must re-boot
  249.   your computer prior to accessing any of the SCSI devices.
  250.  
  251. INSTALLING THE DTC31/3280 SOFTWARE ON A DUAL-FLOPPY SYSTEM (BOOTABLE CONFIG.)
  252. If your system does not have a hard disk drive but has two floppy disk drives,
  253. follow the procedure below to install the DTC31/3280 software on your start-
  254. up diskette.  In the procedure, both drive A: and B: represent floppy disk
  255. drives.
  256.  
  257. * Switch on your system with the start-up diskette in drive A:.  Insert the
  258.   DTC31/3280 software diskette in Drive B:.  Enter the following command
  259.   to change the root directory:
  260.  
  261.                            CD A:\
  262.  
  263. * Copy the files from the DTC31/3280 software diskette to your start-up
  264.   diskette with the following command:
  265.  
  266.                            Copy B:G*.* A:
  267.  
  268. * If your system configuration does not require the DTC31/3280 DOS drivers,
  269.   GSCSI4.EXE and GSCSI4.SYS, your software installation is now complete.
  270.  
  271. * If your system configuration requires GSCSI.SYS, add the following state-
  272.   ment to your CONFIG.SYS file:
  273.  
  274.                            DEVICE=A:GSCSI4.SYS
  275.  
  276.   If your system does not have a CONFIG.SYS file, copy this file from the
  277.   DTC31/3280 software diskette to your start-up diskette by entering the
  278.   following command:
  279.  
  280.                            Copy B:CONFIG.SYS A:
  281.  
  282. * If your system configuration requires GSCSI4.EXE, add the following state-
  283.   ment to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
  284.  
  285.                            GSCSI4
  286.  
  287.   If your system does not have an AUTOEXEC.BAT file, copy this file from
  288.   the DTC31/3280 software diskette to your start-up diskette by entering the
  289.   following command:
  290.  
  291.                            COPY B:AUTOEXEC.BAT A:
  292.  
  293. * Your software installation is now complete.  Please note, you must re-boot
  294.   your computer prior to accessing any of the SCSI devices.
  295.  
  296. USING GSDIAG
  297. The DTC31/3280 software includes GSDIAG low-level format utility for SCSI
  298. disk drives.  Follow the procedure below to invoke this utility.
  299.  
  300. * At the DOS prompt, enter the following command:
  301.  
  302.                            GSDIAG
  303.  
  304. * Follow the instructions on your computer screen.  Select Option 1 to
  305.   format with the Drive Default Values.  This option uses the parameters
  306.   defined by the SCSI disk drive.  If your system has a special configuration,
  307.   it may be necessary to select Format Options 2-4 instead of selecting the
  308.   default values.  Option 2 allows you to manually enter a defect map.
  309.   Options 3 and 4 are used to change the Mode Select parameters.
  310.  
  311. GSFDISK
  312. GSFDISK is the DTC SCSI host adapter partition utility.  This utility can be
  313. used to create a single or multiple partition on a SCSI drive.  DOS version
  314. 4.0 or greater must be used to create a single or multiple partition on a
  315. SCSI drive.  DOS version 4.0 or greater must be used to create a partition
  316. greater than 32 MB (which is a DOS limitation).
  317.  
  318.                            NOTE
  319.  This procedure must be repeated for all the SCSI disk drives.  After part-
  320.  itioning each SCSI disk drive, the system will reboot.
  321.  
  322. Use the following steps to partition the SCSI disk drive.  At the DOS prompt:
  323.               Type the following:
  324.                            GSFDISK
  325.  
  326. Follow the on-screen message to complete the set-up partition procedure.
